      • Water and Sanitation

This programme was set up in 2007 in response to a draught. In this particular area there is a real issue with water access for villagers, especially during the dry season. Most of the wells in the local villages only go about 10 metres down so there is virtually no water available. The wells provided by CHO go 35 metres down.

Each well is currently used by roughly 30 families, that's about 160 people! However in the dry season it can go up to 50 families.

The water is used for cooking, cleaning, washing and drinking.

In the wet season there is also problems with flooding. One of the village schools toilets were flooded and hundreds of children were unable to attended school. After CHO'S donation of toilets all children have been able to attended school daily!
